The Events Volunteer Scheme

The Friends are looking to offer support staff for Front of House including Stewarding, Ticket Office and Bar/Kitchen support plus Backstage for lighting, sound etc.

This is not for the day to day running but for productions and events.

Each time support is required we will get in touch with those members who have put themselves forward as a volunteer to explain what we need and when, to see who’s available.

Box Office and Coffee Shop Helpers

We’re also looking for people who can help out in the day. Andy and Craig are hoping to open a coffee shop on site that will be open during the day and aims to have a box office open during office hours so that tickets can be purchased straight from the Theatre; but they are also hoping that the place will be too busy for them to be able to man it all the time.

Do you have a few hours you can spare on a rota basis? Every hour donated helps keep the Princess open and viable as effectively as a cash donation.

The Princess was saved from closure by its transfer to the Town Council and since April 1st has been in their hands.

A new manager and steward have been appointed, Andy and Craig, and there is a change of focus to be more arts based and a true community asset which is reflected in its new name

We’ve been in close discussions with the Town Council and Andy about where the Friends of The Princess fit in to the new ways of working and are pleased to announce that we will be right alongside the management team providing volunteer support and funds for special projects (not day to day running costs) to ensure the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre fulfils its full potential.

Welcome to the Friends

The Friends Of The Princess is a community group formed to support in any way it can the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre in Burnham on Sea, Somerset.
Members of The Friends pay a subsciption of £5 a year, for which they will receive discounts on selected performances at the Princess, and regular updates on events and functions at the theatre.
The Friends raise money to support the Princess, by way of capital projects for equipment or grants to the Theatre.
Members can be involved in all manner of ways, either as simple supporters or as volunteers at events at the Theatre.
We are currently looking for new blood to sit on the groups executive committee, and for members who can offer support for the theatre as stewards at events, in the box office or in the Theatre's cafe.
